MPE LIMITED Receives The King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation

MPE Ltd has been honoured with the first ever King’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation.

MPE Ltd is one of only 148 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious King’s Award for Enterprise. Announced today, Friday 21st April, MPE Ltd has been chosen for its excellence in Innovation, with only 47 organisations nationally being recognised within that specific category.

Founded in 1925 and employing 60 people, MPE Ltd is privately owned and conducts the research, development and manufacture of high-performance electrical filters for the protection of mission-critical applications in defence, aerospace and infrastructure security. MPE’s latest innovation of many is a world first – high-altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) protection filters certified to the new defence standard Mil-Std-188-125-1A.

All operations are carried out at the company’s factory and headquarters on the Knowsley Industrial Park in Liverpool. In addition to satisfying home demand in the UK, MPE exports over 60% of its production to almost 30 different countries around the globe, amongst which the USA is its largest market.

Commenting on the prestigious King’s Award, Director of MPE Paul Currie stated: “Supplying cutting-edge, innovative products with unparalleled performance is key and sets MPE apart from others within our business sector. This has enabled significant business growth across the past five-year period, which has in turn enabled the expansion of our team and also the continued investment within our apprenticeship program. To now receive the King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation is a true honour and fantastic recognition and reward for all of the team here at MPE.”

The King’s Award for Enterprise was previously known as the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, and the new name reflects His Majesty King Charles III’s desire to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II by recognising outstanding UK businesses. The Awards programme, now in its 57th year, is the most prestigious one for business in the UK, with successful companies then able to use the esteemed King’s Awards emblem for the following five years.
